This is going to be a sappy post and there are no regrets or sorries about it.
One year ago, I decided to take a chance and meet up with a few girls who I had been talking to on Twitter for a little while at the Disney 24-hour event. It was completely out of my comfort zone, and could have ended badly, but I met them up with them at Pinnochio's Village Haus in Fantasyland. At first, it was slightly awkward because we knew one another from our (then) anonymous Disney-themed Twitter accounts, and had only seen each other's faces on one or two posts.
But taking that chance was the best decision I could have made. We got along right away after the awkwardness subsided. We had a mutual adoration for Tangled, and knew that Flynn Rider was meeting with Rapuznel. None of us had FastPasses, so we decided to get in the Standby Line. We were warned about the possible five-hour wait, but the line wasn't THAT long, so we jumped in line.
It turns out, we were wrong. We did wait five hours. From midnight to 5 a.m. I waited in a freezing cold Princess Fairytale Hall with three girls I only knew from the Internet to meet Flynn Rider. Crazy right? Well yes, but at the end of the night, errr, morning, I walked out of Magic Kingdom with three new best friends.
When I first decided to return to Disney last summer, I knew things were going to be different than the year prior, and the main difference being that not all my friends from my college program would be there. So my main prayer was that I would be able to find some friends I would connect with. And those prayers were answered, and these three girls are still some of the closest friends I've had to this day.
I am so proud of all three of you at all you have done this past year. We have all grown in so many different ways, but yall proved that you can be friends with people you don't live close by to.
And now that I am moving back to Florida, it's going to be great knowing I'm returning to some amazing friends.
Jordan, I can't believe you will soon be a Cast Member, photopass no less! You have been one of the sweetest and most understanding friends I've ever had. Thank you for that.
Cami, you ARE a Cast Member! I'm so happy I got to pass the MK DCP torch to you. I know you aren't in your ideal role, but you are taking it one day at a time. And that's what matters. You're serving magical ice cream cones.
Carys, my Broadway twin! You finally got to visit NYC this year! It's so great to have someone to freak out about Broadway and theatre with. And I can't thank you enough to you and your family for opening your home up to me for Spring Break.
Sappy enough for you? I think so. But seriously, happy friendiversary!
