Well, here we are! The last day of the first month of 2015. I can't believe that tomorrow will be February 1.
My plan is that on the last day of every month, I will write a reflection post on what I have done during the month. Some months may be more exciting than others, but I guess I'll find out!
So, the first month of the year was a crazy turn of events. I got two internships with BroadwayWorld, got published on their website as an author, had one of my articles go viral at Liberty, attempted to see the Newsies tour, began my last semester of undergrad, and began researching jobs for after graduation.
Now which one of these does not seem as exciting as the other (and no, the job one isn't the answer)? If you guessed "attempted" to see the Newsies tour, then you're correct. If you're following me on Twitter, you probably already knew about this situation, but probably don't know how it happened. Well, I don't want to bore you with details, but basically after the car breaking down and the fact I thought we had evening tickets when in reality they were for the matinee and then having to get towed all the way back home, that's what happened.
HOWEVER: I'm excited to say that in June I'll be seeing them in DC! And yes, multiple eyes have looked at the tickets and I know what show they are for.
Getting published? Yes, that was an exciting day for me. One of my internships with BroadwayWorld is a contributing editor, where I am specifically writing about student and local productions. My first official review was for Alluvion Stage Company's PETER AND THE STARCATCHER. The review basically wrote itself since the show was so wonderful. I never actually realized how popular BroadwayWorld was until I tweeted the link to Alluvion, and then it went viral. It went so viral that the final Sunday evening performance was added back on the schedule due to the overwhelming response. As far as I know, after the article went live, the rest of the performances sold out. That was honestly a dream come true right there.
Commencement. Yes, the countdown is officially on, with less than 100 days until "Ponce and Circumstance" plays. It's absolutely crazy how fast time has flown and how much I've grown since beginning college in August 2011. But, I'm thankful for every experience I've encountered. And I'm not quite done yet, even though I think senioritis is setting in for everyone.
Well, that's January in a nutshell! I wonder what February will bring.
